Lenovo Flex 5 Price in Nepal, Review

The Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14 punches far above its weight. This 2-in-1 convertible laptop offers better computing performance than many competitors that cost more than twice as much. It’s also got decent physical connectivity options, a sturdy, well-designed chassis, and a comfortable keyboard. While the Flex 5’s 14-inch display could be brighter and it could stand to lose a few ounces, it’s nevertheless a screaming-good value and an excellent mainstream laptop.

Pros and Cons of Lenovo Flex 5 Laptop

Robust computing performanceRelatively heavy for a 14-inch ultraportable
Excellent valueDim 250-nit display
Soft-touch, durable chassis
The screen supports touch input
Webcam privacy shutter
Two USB Type-A ports

Display and Design of Lenovo Flex 5 Laptop

Lenovo Flex 5 comes with a 14” Full HD widescreen display which is touch-enabled. It’s an LED-backlit IPS panel with a maximum brightness of 250 nits. It’s bright enough for indoor use and I had no trouble using this laptop in my extremely bright home office. But this laptop will struggle outdoors in sunlight. If you are planning to use this laptop on a beach or a park in bright sunlight, you will be disappointed. When it comes to color reproduction, It delivers 62% sRGB and 46% AdobeRGB color gamut. Now, these are not steller numbers and they will certainly disappoint professionals who do color grading on Davinci Resolve or Adobe Photoshop. These folks will be better off connecting this laptop to an external monitor. But for the rest of the population, I think this is a pretty good screen.

Flexible and Comfortable

The Flex 5’s 360-degree hinge makes it more flexible than a conventional clamshell laptop. By folding the hinge past 180 degrees, you can prop the notebook up like a tent, rest it on the keyboard portion like an easel, or even fold it completely flat and use it as a tablet.

The Flex 5’s chassis may be on the chunky side, but it’s not unattractive. Lenovo uses a unique soft-touch plastic coating on the sides and the keyboard deck, which makes the laptop pleasing to hold. The Graphite Gray color scheme of our review unit is also intriguing, making the laptop darker and moodier-looking than the mostly silver schemes of other Lenovo ultraportables.

Performance of Lenovo Flex 5

Let’s talk about the CPU. Lenovo Flex 5 is powered by Ryzen 4000 series mobile processors. It has a sporting  8-core Ryzen 7 4700U processor. Ryzen 4000 series mobile CPUs are a big deal because, for the first time, we are seeing an “8-core” processor in the budget thin and light laptop category. This processor is based on AMD’s “Zen 2” architecture and is designed hand-in-hand with TSMC’s 7nm process technology. The Zen 2 architecture boasts impressive performance across both IPC and clock speeds, which in simple English means that it kicks ass.

Keyboard & Trackpad

Let’s talk about the keyboard. Lenovo Flex 5 comes with an island-style keyboard that is backlit enabled. The keys are platinum grey in color with white lettering. The backlighting has a cool white color which enhances the visibility of each key when using the laptop in a dark room. The intensity of the backlighting is user adjustable and it can also be completely turned off. The typing experience on this laptop is fantastic.
